NIT Meghalaya offers a four-year BTech course at the UG level across five specialisations. These are Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Admission to all the BTech specialisations revolves around JEE Main exams followed by  counselling.

The application process varies from course to course.The application process of BTech, MTech, and MSc is done via the official website of JoSAA, GATE, and JAM respectively. Candiates with a valid entrance exam score msut apply through the counselling bodies of JoSAA (BTech), CCMT (MTech), and CCMN (MSc). As for the PhD programme, candidates must apply via the NIT Meghalay's official website by filling the online appplication form.

NIT Meghalaya does offer scholarships. The institute provides merit-cum-means scholarships, fee waivers, and other financial assistance to deserving students. Candidates can also apply for various government scholarships and fellowships offered by agencies such as the Ministry of Education, GOI, and other external organisations.
