Admission to the PhD course at NIT Sikkim is primarily based on the candidate's performance in a national-level entrance exam such as GATE, UGC NET or UGC CSIR. Yes, there is an M.Tech programme offered at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Sikkim. The institute offers M.Tech in three specialisations: Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Communication Engineering and Control Power and Electric Drives. The M.Tech programme at NIT Sikkim is a two-year full-time course. M.Tech admission selection includes Bachelor's Degree with a minimum 60% and a valid score of GATE/CCMT entrance exam.

The eligibility criteria for the BTech specialisations includes twelve years of shcool education with 75% aggregate. National entrance exams is the source of admission for the BTech programme.
