To become a software engineer you must go for computer science as elective for your 11-12th. Start preparing for IIT-JEE Mains/Advanced and target to get into top engineering colleges like IITs or NITs. You must specialize in computer science during your 4 year graduation. A good knowledge of computer science with hands on some good projects will help you to get good placement in top IT companies.

With the boom in the digital world software engineering in a very good choice. You could take a Bachelor degree in computer Science, computer information systems, software engineering or mathematics. All the Bachelor courses shall be for 4 years and then you could pursue a Masters if you want to specialise further. There is also an option for associate degrees and diplomas which are for a shorter period but they don't get you a decent paying job.
The highest paying programming languages are Java, Python, R, Swift etc. SO please choose wisely the languages you would like to excel in.

Yes, BCA and MCA are good courses. It will help you in getting good job in IT industries as a software engineer. But BCA and MCA would of 6 years duration. Better would be to go with B.Tech in CSE or IT as it will help you much better. BCA + MCA is equivalent to B.Tech.

You can go for B.Tech in CSE. After that, you can go for PG specialization in software.

M.Tech is not a necessary educational qualification to become software Engineer. You can get job of software Engineer by undergoing B.Tech CS/IT/ECE, MCA or M.Sc CS/IT. M.Tech CS or IT is required for highly specialised techncal jobs.

You can become software Engineer by any of following path: (a) BTech CS/ IT or ECE (b) BCA MCA (c) BSc MSc CS/ IT (d) PG Diploma in Computer Application (e) Software Certification etc. You can chose any of the path based on your educational qualifications.
