The seat intake for the B. Des course through NID Entrance Exam is 425. For M.Des course, 347 seats are available for admission at NID campuses. Apart from this number, some seats are also reserved for overseas (supernumerary) candidates. Admission to the B. Des programme at the NIDs will be on the basis of NID that 2023 merit rank and college option opted by the candidate. Meanwhile, M.Des candidates aren't required to select colleges.

The NID DAT application form is open now for 2026-2027.

To fill the form, the candidate has to follow these steps:

  1. Get registered - The candidate had to get registered using their email ID and mobile number.
  2. Log-in and fill the form - Next, fill in all the necessary sections in the form: academic, personal, and contact details. Also, select an exam centre of your choice.
  3. Upload documents - Follow the specified format and specification when uploading documents like photographs and signatures.

NID Entrance Exam consists of two admissions tests: NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains. NID DAT Prelims is a written entrance exam, while NID DAT Mains comprises a studio test and interview round. In NID DAT Prelims, candidates are asked both objective and subjective-type questions. Candidates who qualify in the NID DAT 2026 exam will be considered for admission to the M.Des and B. Des courses offered by participating colleges. The that Prelims exam for the B. Des programme will include questions from topics like color terminology, principles of composition, and form and function.

A. NID 2023 that Prelims is the 1st step of the two-step NID admissions process. NID that Prelims comprises a written exam that candidates need to clear in order to be eligible for NID that Mains. The National Institute of Design conducted Prelims exam on January 8.
The DAT Mains for the B. Des programme includes a Studio Test, whereas the that Mains for the M.Des programme comprises a Studio Test and Interview. The Studio Test and Interiew for the M.Des programme program is conducted from March 20 onward. The DAT Mains for the B.Des programme will be conducted on April 30, 2023.

NID 2023 that Prelims is the 1st round of the two-step NID admission process. NID that Prelims comprises a written exam that candidates need to clear in order to be eligible for NID that Mains. Candidates seeking admission to the B. Des and M. Des courses need to appear in the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT). However, B. F. Tech, M. F. Tech, and M. F. M applicants only need to appear in the General Ability Test. NID 2023 candidates can also check the that Prelims sample paper here.

The NIFT 2023 answer key was released only for the GAT written test. Note that candidates are allowed to take away the GAT question paper. No answer key was released for the CAT paper. The answer key contained the official keys or answers to questions asked in the entrance exam. The candidate by using the answer key could compare their answers and thus calculate the probable scores and consequently their chances of admission. One could use NIFT cut-off to check opening and closing ranks.

The allotment of seats is based on: Choice opted at the time of counseling registration (academic programs + campuses) The category of the candidate Seat intake in the college opted for admission NIFT 2023 merit rank of the candidate. NIFT 2023 seat allotment process will be conducted in May 2023. In case of the B. Des and B.FTech programmes, the candidates should be less than 24 years as on July 1, 2023. There is relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories. However, there is no age limit for applying to the postgraduate programmes at NIFT. When applying for admission to design courses at the NIFTs, the candidate must also carefully go through the academic requirements. Note that even if a candidate qualifies the NIFT Entrance Exam but doesn't meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, he or she will not be considered for admission.

A. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) released the NIFT 2023 answer key on February 22, 2023. The question paper for NIFT 2023 was also be released alongside the answer key. Candidates were also able to challenge the answer key and question paper on payment of a non-refundable fee of INR 500 (per observation/objection). The feedback given by the candidate against the draft key is used by exam officials to prepare the final keys. The final answer key contains the correct and official keys for questions asked in the NIFT exam.
