Hi, The profession of dietetics contributes to promoting health and the prevention and treatment of
illness by optimizing the nutrition of populations, communities, and individuals. Dietitians have a defined and recognizable body of knowledge and utilize scientific principles and methods in nutrition and dietetics, applying these results to influence the wider environment affecting food intake and eating
behavior. The scope of dietetic practice is such that dietitians may work in various settings and
have a variety of work functions. LPU is the best place to pursue B.Sc. (Nutrition and Dietetics). LPU has ranked among top-100 in the Overall as well as University category by NIRF-2020 rankings. LPU ranks amongst the Top 200 universities globally as per the prestigious Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2021, which assess universities against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In LPU, In addition to the regular course work, specially designed practical courses like Hands-on training, Practical crop production, Rural and Agriculture Work Experience (RAWE), Nursery raising for horticulture crops, Crop And SEED Identification Diet planning, food service management, patients counseling, community visits are offered to promote practical implication of various courses which train students for hospitals and industries. Students were exposed to Community (Anganwadi centers and rural schools) to know about the extension education and community nutrition. They were also engaged in hospital internships as dietitians to learn about the patients' counseling techniques and report analysis. Students were also taken to the food kiosk and kitchens of food courts to learn about food service management. They were also involved in new product development and its analysis pertaining to nutrition, shelf life, and cost analysis. Emphasis on case studies and inter-personal-based teaching to develop skills in analytical thinking and reflective judgment by reading and discussing complex, real-life scenarios. Some achievements:
1. 8 students got a placement in VLCC Wellness.
2. 2 students got placed in British Biologicals.
3. 1 student got placed in Tagore hospital, Jalandhar, Punjab.
4. 1 student is pursuing a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology IIFT Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India.
5. 1 student selected for Ph.D. in Nutrition and Dietetics in University of Mississippi. Thanks.
