Institute of Distance Education University of Madras (popularly known as Madras University Distance Education Institute) was established by the University of Madras in 1981. Currently, University of Madras Distance Education Institute offers UG, PG, Diploma and certificate programmes across various specializations. It offers quality MBA programmes. Similarly, the fees varies depending upon the various courses of MBA programmes. The first year tution fees cost around INR 20K.

The Madras University Distance Education website currently does not have placement information for 2023. However, according to student feedback on the Shiksha site, 84% of the final batch were placed in prestigious companies. The highest package offered in Madras University distance education admission is INR 35 LPA and the lowest package is INR 7 LPA. Top recruits from Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, ICICI Bank, TCS and other companies have attended Madrasa University Institute of Distance Education.

According to Shiksha college panel, there is no particular number of seats intake for B.Sc at Madras University Distance Education. However, the candidate should passed class 12 with decent percentile from any recognised board of education to be eligible for taking admission in B.Sc at Madras University Distance Education.
