Electrical and Electronics Engineering

There are following major options available for you after becoming an engineer:
(a) Job: BE is sufficient qualification to start your career. Your first option to get job is job in campus placement. It is challenging to get job if you do not get job in campus placement. If you do not get selected in campus interview, then you can look for jobs through job portals, application against advertisement, job consultants, and referral from friends and relatives etc. You can appear in GATE to seek job in Public sector organization. You can appear for competitive examination such as Indian Engineering services, Civil Services, PO etc.
(b) Higher Studies: Both M.Tech and MBA are good career options after engineering graduation degree. M.Tech will make you a specialist in chosen field and you can make career as a technologist. You may seek admission in M.Tech if you are technically inclined. If you are not technically inclined then you may opt for MBA and become a generalist. Currently scope of MBA is wider but slowly industry has started paying good salaries to technologist also. Number of opportunities for Government job are restricted and also slowly government is rationalizing its term and conditions of job. Life time pension benefits were withdrawn by government in 2004. I am not in favor of graduate engineers doing a government job below class I officer. If you able to get job of class I officer in Government after engineering then its a good option otherwise it is not a good option. My recommendations in order of precedence for your choices are as follows: M.Tech, MBA and Government job.
