Hi Keerti,
Yes, you can join an autonomous institute.
But before that you must know the difference.
There are two types of colleges. (1) Affiliated and (2) Autonomous. The first type are affiliated to some or the other university. They have to follow the syllabus prescribed by the uni and also the all the norms & regulations etc. The admissions are decided centrally by the University. The exams too are conducted by the university. This means all the colleges affiliated to the same university will have same question papers and will be evaluated by same people with same criteria.

Sandwich course in PSG Tech is similar to a normal B.E but for 5 years. (It is not an integrated M.E course, which is what people usually confuse with). In Addition to normal B.E certificate Sandwich students will get an industrial training certificate for 2000hours. 5years is divided into 10semesters 5/4 subjects per sem. (For regulars it is 6subjects per sem). Industrial Training classes will there for each sem. (Usually 2hours in morning) Students will get exposed to PSG industries Rotary Machinery Division (pump production) and Heavy Engineering Division (Lathe Machine manufacturing).
