Between ECE and ECE (SS) there is no difference in syllabus or course, rather the difference arises in fee structure. In ECE general course, you may get government scholarship and other facilities including any relaxations in fee structure, but in ECE (SS) course, here SS means Self Supporting, thereby in this course, you will not get any Government scholarship. And also, you will have to pay much higher fees than the General ECE course. In ECE (SS) course, only reserved category students I. e. OBC, SC and ST students can get some relaxation in fees.

If you have not attended the counselling round then the only way to get admission is through management quota seat but management quota admission and fee cost is not advertised openly by any of the colleges/universities across India as being a paid seat it totally depends on the discretion of the college authorities. Among ECE and civil, civil is the best option. In ECE, mostly private jobs are available, but in civil, there are a lot of government jobs along with private jobs available.
