Engineering Admission Process

Lateral entry admission is given in the 2nd year.

You cannot decide this without your rank. So, to get admission in good colleges for civil engineering, you have to qualify for LEET entrance exam with good marks.

You can always do that, but no admissions will be held in December.

B.Tech lateral entry program is for those students, who have done Diploma or ITI course in engineering. University cannot be changed after the 1st year. Only colleges can be changed within the same university.
To change the university, you have to again take admission in 1st year after giving entrance exams.

NITs currently do not have provision for lateral entry admission in B.Tech for Diploma holders. You can seek admission by appearing for JEE in first year of engineering as you have done class 12th.
