Dropping an year is not advisable. Better would be apply for admission to some good university.
Most of the private universities these days offer you admission either on basis of LEET or direct admission on the basis of your marks in Diploma. They offer world class environment to students along with good placements. Some even offer good scholarships to students. Check their websites.
Good luck.

Apart from them there are some good universities outside Bangalore like Amity, Lovely Professional University etc that offer lateral entry. They have good placements and offer scholarships too.
