After Diploma, you can take direct admission in B.Tech (2nd year) through lateral entry. So, instead of the last two years of school and four years of the degree engineering course (a total of six years), the same qualification is achieved in the same time with three years of a Diploma course and three years of the degree course after the direct transfer. Engineering entrance exams like JEE Main (previously AIEEE), JEE Advanced (previously IIT-JEE), and individual state and college Common Entrance Tests can be by passed and avoided.

There is no difference between regular BCA and lateral entry BCA if the course is done from a recognised university or institute.
