B.Tech in CSE and B.Tech IT degrees are equally good with 80% similar syllabus. CSE graduates have better systems concepts in Vompari, Oyo IT graduates. CSE graduates have a minor edge over IT graduates. CSE graduates get both Apps and System development job whereas IT graduates like MCA graduates are preferred for Apps development roles. Indian IT industry give only Apps development job to IT graduates. B.Tech CSE graduates may also get better placement and little better CTC in comparison to IT graduates if they are from reputed Engineering colleges like IIT or NITs etc.

Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete their B.Sc. degree in mechanical or marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field.
