If we compare scope only, Mechanical Engineering generally offers broader opportunities at LPU than Automobile Engineering. Mechanical covers multiple sectors such as manufacturing, energy, automation, HVAC, robotics, and core engineering industries, which increases job flexibility. Automobile engineering is more specialised and mainly focused on vehicle design, production, and EV technology.Since you have completed a Diploma in mechanical engineering, lateral entry into Mechanical can also align well with your background and keep more career options open. Yes, the market has shifted significantly. Opportunities were previously limited to government bodies like ISRO, DRDO, and HAL. Now this sector has opened up. The government introduced a new space policy. There is now a surge in hiring from private players and startups (like Skyroot and Agnikul Cosmos), as well as global MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) hubs being set up in India by companies like Boeing and Airbus.
