The course-wise placement details for the Class of 2025 are yet to be released on the official website of IIT Kharagpur. As per the media reports, over 400 recruiters visited the IIT Kharagpur campus for 2025 placements and offered over 1,800 job offers, including 409 PPOs and 25 international offers to the students. No, negative marking applies only to MCQs. Here's how the GATE 2026 negative marking for MCQs is done -

  • For a one-mark MCQ, 1/3rd mark will be deducted for an incorrect answer
  • For a two-mark question, 2/3rd mark will be deducted for an incorrect response. 

There is no negative marking for MSQs and NATs.

The GATE 2026 is scheduled to take place on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. The exam will be conducted online in two shifts. The session timings of the GATE 2026 exam are -

  • Forenoon shift from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and
  • Afternoon shift from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Candidates are advised to check their exam timings (mentioned on the GATE admit card 2026) and report to the exam centre 60 minutes before the exam.

Educational Qualification: You must have passed 10+2 (Intermediate) with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects.

Minimum Marks -General category requires at least 45% aggregate in 12th grade (40% for reserved categories).

Accepted Exams -AP EAMCET (Andhra Pradesh Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test), CBSE 12th, or BIEAP scores are accepted.
