With 150 marks in TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions), your son is likely to get admitted in tier-2 or tier-3 engineering colleges for CSE, particularly under state quota. Some of the probable possibilities are Kongun Engineering College, Panimalar Institute, RMK Engineering College, and Velammal Engineering College, based on the community and cutoff trends.

With 77% in boards but only 41 percentile in JEE Main, admission to Medi-Caps University's B.Tech AIML is unlikely, as the cutoff is usually above 60–65 percentile. You may need to consider other branches or colleges with lower cutoffs.

For NIT/IIIT via JEE Main, 75% in Class 12 or top 20 percentile is needed with Maths included. Removing Maths to calculate percentage won't meet eligibility. Your 80 percentile (without Maths) won't qualify for NIT, but you may still get state government engineering colleges via WBJEE if PCM marks meet their minimum criteria.
