You cannot take anything inside the exam hall except your ID proof (Passport). No phones, watches, or even your own pen or paper. They will give you scratch paper and pencil inside. Even water bottles are often kept outside.

Both IELTS Academic and General Training tests are more or less similar. However, IELTS Academic can be said to be on the tougher side. The IELTS Speaking and Listening sections are common in both test types. However, the IELTS Reading and Writing sections are different for both.
