There are two to three core courses included in the IGNOU BA (Hons) in English programme. Apart from this, the course curriculum include ability enhancement compulsory courses, skill enhancement, and generic electives. There is some credit attached to each of the subject. Aggregate of 50% in bachelor's degree in respective discipline or equivalent (10+2+3) from a recognised university and students appearing in the their final semester/ year exams are also eligible to apply for JAIN Entrance Test.

In JET test for MA english the following will be asked:- 

1. Reading comprehension (20)
2. Literature based questions (40)
3. language usage (30)
4. Language based questions (40)

total no of questions asked will be 100 and the duration of the written test will be 120 minutes.
