Most BFA fine art programs start with a foundation year where you learn art and design fundamentals before you have to declare a degree focus. There is also quite a bit of overlap in degree requirements that it is relatively easy to switch programs (core requirements for one will be elective requirements for another). A more important decision to make is whether you want to go to an art school or a university with an arts programme. The culture will be very different at each. A university will grant you more exposure to cross-disciplinary opportunities, traditional college experiences (sports, Greek life, and general education). You can get into production, whether live or animated. -You can be a story writer who writes for live and animated screens or even roll the story into a video/ PC game. -You can be a script writer who would stop at nothing to give wonderful scene setups to bring the story to life. -You could be an artist who designs characters or who storyboards the film for live or animated performance. -You can also double up as a voice over artist who gives his/ her voice to the characters or dub for movie stars, or even be a radio star. -You can alternatively look at web for a web of careers in web design, online marketing, search engine optimization, content writing, social media promoting. Any extra skill can be used in this. So it turns out to be one of the most challenging as well as satisfying careers. Sure not recommended for the weak hearted. Do remember that digital design careers (e. g. web design, graphics, UI design, animation, VFX, multimedia) give better profits since they can be delivered anywhere in the world and hence may earn in dollars, resulting in better rewards for designers. Some people are passionate about acting, they must understand that acting cannot provide jobs since this is an assignment based industry and one must fit the role.
