It's not that easy to answer how much you will earn in game designing. Salary or earning depends on many factors i.e. Experience, Company, Job Role, Position, Location etc.
However the average earning can be predicted is between 15k to 1L /mo.

You have to earn a Diploma or do your Bachelors in animation, multimedia, game designing, etc. to qualify. Check here for colleges and requirements:

Any college is always judged by its passed out alumni. They are the ones who have experienced the college life and are also presently working in the industry with great experience working with students who are from other institutes in the country. First of all, do not loose hole and take decision in haste. Please read the whole answer carefully. Then make your choice.
The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay is a public engineering institution. In the QS World University Rankings 2014, IIT Bombay was ranked as India's top university. So, if you are doing engineering from here you are one of the privileged ones.
But as you said you want to do game programmer. Four year's undergraduate courses are available for this. But, lots of institutes also have these courses (high level) for graduates.
Now you have to decide if you can do both at the same time or drop out from IIT. Or yo
