Most IAS beginners choose an optional simply because it is considered scoring. Some of the optionals that are considered scoring are Public Administration and Geography. While Geography has returned marks with 400+ in IAS Mains, many candidates have been scoring 340+ and 350+ in Public Administration in the past few years. Hi buddy,
You cannot do this at same time. For NDA with PCM, you also have to study history, geography, economics, biology, English and General Knowledge. And all these subjects require time.

If your aim is to join civil services, then B.A. will be best for you. You will get the UG degree in a short span of 3 years, and then you can appear for the exam. Going for an engineering degree is not suggested, because it will take 4 years and in most cases a year of drop after class 12th is required. Just join Government College, it is better to go for any 3 year UG course and prepare for UPSC with full power. I will suggest you to go for B.A. .

The eligibility is based on various posts available in Indian railways. Some posts require only plus two and others require higher qualifications. Thus you have eligibility for plus two level jobs in Indian railways.
