With a JEE Mains rank of 101278, you can get admission to newer NITs like NIT Agartala, NIT Manipur, NIT Sikkim, or NIT Mizoram. However, you might get less popular branches like civil engineering or instrumentation. Your category (General, OBC, SC, ST) will also affect your chances. You can also look at state-level or private colleges with lower cut-offs. To decide, check last year's cut-offs on the JEE website, consider colleges near your home, and make smart choices during JoSAA counseling based on your rank and preferences.

With 89% in Class 12, admission to NITs or IIITs depends on your JEE Main score and rank. While your percentage is good, securing a seat in top NITs or IIITs will depend on your JEE rank. You may have better chances in less competitive branches or institutes.

With an 81 percentile in JEE Main, your chances of getting admission into NITs or IIITs can vary depending on the specific institute, course, and category. Typically, a percentile of 81 is on the lower end for top NITs and IIITs, but there are chances for admission to some NITs or newer branches of NITs and IIITs, especially for OBC category students.
You may have a better chance for institutes with lower closing ranks or in branches with lower demand. It's recommended to check the previous year's closing ranks and participate in the counseling process to explore the best options.

With a rank of 64,000 in JEE Mains under the general category, admission to the top IIITs will be difficult as their cutoffs are usually on the higher side. Yet, there is a possibility of getting admission to some new or lower-ranked IIITs or other state-level engineering colleges.
