Admission to BS programme in IIT, Kanpur is made once a year in July through Joint Entrance Examination-Mains (JEE-Mains) and Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced (JEE- Advanced) conducted on an all India level in April and May by CBSE and IITs respectively.

IIT - Madras is better than Kanpur.
1) Chennai is a prime location for many good companies in India as compared to Kanpur.
2) IIT - Madras is older than Kanpur and it's the best IIT among all IIT's as per the ranking by MHRD.
3) The average package of IIT - M is Rs.12 LPA and IIT - Kanpur is Rs.10 LPA.

The eligibility criteria for application is a minimum overall percentile of 85 for General/OBC students and 75 percentile for SC/ST students. After application, the CAT percentile along with work experience and academic in varying weightage is considered for GD PI process call offers.

The MBA programme at IIT Kanpur offers multitude of specializations ranging from finance, marketing, operations and analytics,although the degree offered is of general MBA.
It depends on the students , what courses to pursue dependent on their inclinations at IIT Kanpur we have a provision of half credit courses to increase the depth of knowledge.
Only B.Tech students are eligible to apply here.

However, overall percentile should be minimum 85 for General and OBC students and minimum of 75 percentile for SC and ST students to apply at IIT Kanpur.
