The B.Tech in civil engineering at IIT Kharagpur and IIT Bombay is equally good.
1. Raking: In the 2022 rankings, IIT Kharagpur is ranked fifth, while IIT Bombay is ranked third by NIRF.
2. Fees: Both institutions charge about Rs. 8 Lacs as their course fee for B.Tech CE. However, the hostel fee at IIT Bombay is 2.8 Lacs, compared to 1.32 Lacs at IIT Kharagpur.
3. Facilities: Both universities have amazing facilities. The hostel and campus at IIT Bombay are better and more student-friendly than those at IIT Kharagpur.

Both IIT Kharagpur and IIT Bombay are among the top institutes to pursue a B.Tech. In computer Science and engineering. Here is a small comparison:

Give preference to NIT for CSE. Because placements in Mechanical are not satisfactory in any college. However if you are getting ECE or IT in IITs than think about the IITs.

Obviously, If you are interested in coding then check if you are getting CSE or MNC at some new iits like IIT Patna, Bhilai, etc. But if it is like I want any of the top old iits then for Non-core get ECE as it is somewhere midway between core & Non core and for government jobs go for EE as it is quite hectic to manage a core branch like ELECTRICAL with proficiency in coding. You can do webD or android development with EE but getting pro in DSA and CP will be little more tedious.
