Whatever weapons industry India has is in the hands of the public sector. You have the gun factories, ordinance and armament factories, all under the ministry of Science and tech or defense. These organisations have their own independent recruitment process. DRDO is an organisation that works in the field of development of weapon systems. It has undertaken development of many useful technologies associated with warfare. Weapon systems require engineers from all streams including avionics and aerospace. NAL is another organisation that contributes to weapon engineering. HAL is one of the premier avionics and aircraft manufacturing outfit taht is deep into weapon systems. There are many PSUs involved in ship building in Kochi, Karwar, Kolkata and other places which involve state of art weapon systems. Most of these defense related organizations recruit standard run-of-the-mill engineers from electrical, mechanical, computer, telecom, production streams ( the list is not exhaustive. They often have vacancies for general graduate trainees as well as Scientist / Engineer posts) through their own recruitment process. No they do not do campus because that would be unfair to other institutions I guess. However ISRO provides special B.Tech / M.Tech / Combined courses in Avionics and aerospace. Absorption isn't guaranteed. But graduating from that course gives you a head start for weapon engineering not only in India but abroad too.

Don't go out because others are doing it. Don't stay here because others are saying that to you. Ask yourself where you are likely to feel comfortable. You have to ask yourself - Why and What's in it for yourself? If you are single, why you want to live abroad and what's in it for you in India? Write pros and cons of both and then choose. Answering this question gives you more narrow choice. If you are married, you need to discuss with your spouse and parents (if you care for them). Ask them if they can manage abroad, with you. If your salary does't help with finances abroad then you also have to convince wife to work. If she is of helpful type then yes, she'll take on that responsibility and then transition offshore won't exhaust you much. Go to the prospective country and spend few days over there. Find out how hard it is to live day-to-day and then decide if india is worth it. If you live abroad in countries like US, CA AU and UK then one of the following things are the benefits to you -
Better healthcare. Satisfactory responses on government. Services like police, roads, water, electricity and disaster management. Better lifestyle. No gender dominant laws, no caste discrimination etc. Mixture of cultures. Better IT and startup opportunities. If you live in India here are some of the benefits for you -
Indian Culture. You'll miss the festivals and other religious stuff even if you are not religious. Whether you like it or not, it's a gift that we are born into this culture. Good People. Yes, they exists and make living here worthwhile. Parents. Unless you plan on taking them with you. Specific type of Indian woman. Extremely rare but the one who adjusts, family caring and loving. Food. You can't find any restaurant or driveway food abroad having good taste like you GET on chaupati food.

Well dear, there are hundreds of Engineering Colleges in West Bengal whereas few for Medical. In 2009, the total number of Engineering seats were 20,077 and I think 5,000 were added again that year. However, last year counselling was gone upto 60,000. Even I have seen candidate with 59,000 rank getting good college like- IMPS College of Engineering, Malda. In 2010 Government has announced addition of 20,000 more seats which he has fulfilled. Simultaneously raising the number of Medical seats to 2,000 from 1200. But as far as we have seen last year councelling almost 40,000 Engineering seats were there whereas for Medical it was 1200 (approximately). In 2010 Government has announced to increase the number of Medical seats from 1200 to 2000 but as far as I concern there is no increase in seats till now. May be we can see those hike in 2011 councelling. One of the reason behind such few number of seats is there are very few Medical colleges in West Bengal there are 14 Medical Colleges including Dental out of which 5 are government.
