You have to pass 10+2 or PUC examination in 2017 with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as the main subjects from a recognised board. If you have studied Biology, Electronics, Computer Science, Statistics, etc. in addition to PCM, then also you are eligible to apply.
You have to secure a first class or 60% or an equivalent grade in a qualifying examination.
If you're SC/ST, then you have to score only passing marks in the examination.
You have to qualify one of the national level entrance tests: JEE Mains 2018, NEET 2018, JEE Advanced 2018 & KVPY-SA 2016, KVPY-SX 2017, KVPY-SB 2017.

If you want to take admission into any IITs, then only you have to give JEE Advanced. Otherwise, skip it, its absolutely fine.

Hi Shivani, After class 12, you can join IIScs undergraduate programme. Although programme does not require you to choose a subject such as genetic engineering when you join, the curriculum allows you to pick areas of your interest to study after 3 semesters of introductory courses in Science and engineering. At the end of 8 semesters you will be awarded a B.Sc. (research) degree upon successful completion of all requirements. There is also the option of continuing for two more semesters and graduating with an MS. The various modes of entry into IISc UG include, KVPY, (IIT)JEE-Main, (IIT)JEE-Advanced and NEET UG.
