Hello Syed,
JEE Mains is required to be cleared if a student wishes for admission in any of the National Institutes of Technology or centrally funded technical institutes or also into IIT. However Tamil Nadu Government since last year, has stopped entrance exam for admission to engineering colleges in the state. Of course this is applicable for government colleges and government aided colleges. You should have a decent marks of more that 70% and UPES, Dehradun conducts a test for admission for different branches. Aerospace engineering. Has a good scope from UPES and for that, you have to clear that test too.

Yes, if you have taken admission to B.Tech just after the 12th class but if you appear for the same then you have to do the B.Tech 1st year again that will result in 2 year gap.

Hi Ambika,
There are no branch-wise cutoffs in admissions of SIT during the counselling. You need to be physically present during the counselling as it is possible that the people who had a higher score in JEE Mains have usually secured a seat in some government college such as IITs or NITs and do not come for the counselling process of SIT. Hence, even if you have scored average in JEE Mains, there is a possibility of securing seats in the branch you desire.

There is no branch wise cut off. However, based on my experience, I am listing the average cut offs for all branches:
75+ - Mechanical
70+ - Civil
120+ - Computer Science
105+ - IT
70+ - E&TC
You could opt for a branch, which is not of your choice, if you are eager to get into Symbiosis, and later apply for a branch change and maintain a decent CGPA throughout the first year.

You can opt for the NEST exam, if you have interest in research work or you can opt for the Indian statistical institute. These are also two good colleges and exam for the entirely different stream that is known by very less students pursing to do B.Tech.

With this rank, it is bit difficult for anyone to predict that, as it may be possible that in JEE Mains your performance is not that much good as that much you have studied and you might have done better in VITEEE, so it is difficult to predict.

Hi Jay,
As per IIST Admission Norms, you need to have at least 5% in Jee Advance exam. Hence only JEE mains would not be sufficient. Detailed procedure you can get on the website.
Hope this helps.

Sorry, but here is no chance for less than 75%. It's an strict rule. You can try for private colleges.
Best of luck for future.
