NIT Jamshedpur Civil Engineering: Strong core learning with great exposure and campus vibes.
Placements: In civil engineering at NIT Jamshedpur, around 95% of students got placed. The highest package offered goes up to 18 LPA, the lowest is around 5 LPA, and the average is 8.2 LPA. Top recruiters include L&T, Tata Steel, Shapoorji Pallonji, and NTPC. About 40-45% of students land internships in companies like Tata Steel, Amazon, and Flipkart. The most common roles are project engineer, site engineer, and structural analyst. Overall, placements and internships are pretty solid, especially if you're open to both core and software roles!
Infrastructure: At NIT Jamshedpur, civil engineering has well-equipped labs for structures, soil, transportation, and environment studies. Classrooms are smart and spacious, and Wi-Fi is available campus-wide. The central library is big and well-stocked. Hostels are decent. First-years usually share rooms, while seniors often get single. Mess food is okay, some days better than others, and canteens offer good variety. Medical care is available 24/7 with ambulance support. The sports facilities are great. The college has fields, courts, and even a gym. Overall, the campus vibe is hill and student-friendly.
Faculty: The civil engineering teachers at NIT Jamshedpur are quite helpful, qualified, and experienced. Most professors have Ph. D.s and practical exposure. The teaching quality is good, focusing on both theory and practice. The curriculum is regularly updated and aligned with industry needs, especially in areas like structures and geotechnicals. Semester exams are moderate. Neither too tough nor too easy with proper preparation, it's manageable. The pass percentage stays high, around 90-95%, so students generally do well if they stay consistent.
Other: I chose civil engineering at NIT Jamshedpur for its strong core focus and good placements in reputed companies like L&T and Tata Steel. The best part is the hands-on lab work and real-world project exposure. I wish there were more software-oriented electives and modern surveying tools. The campus hosts vibrant fests like Ojass and Culfest, with a diverse crowd and active clubs. It is well-connected by rail, and scholarships are available. Overall, the environment is lively, supportive, and full of opportunities.

Why you should be careful while choosing a college, good college in terms of placement.
Placements: Almost all get placed here. Heights go up to 80 LPA and on average 15 LPA. All top MNCs come here. For CSE, ECE, and Electrical, this doesn't matter; you are most likely to get a place. Talking about core meta and PI, mechanicals are very good. Academics is average.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is not that good. 4 hostels for girls with 3 occupancies in a single room for B. Tech for Boys hostel facility is quite good for NLPOW and many more hostels are being built here. Talking about lecture hall, it is a good 3-floor building with a coloured ground.
Faculty: Class curriculum is very bad. Teachers teach averagely. Although some teachers are good, some don't know how to teach. If you know the technique, you can score a good cg but taking about electrical, it is good to score cg for CSE. It’s also easy. But for ECE PI, it is hard as 1 teacher is bad.
Other: I chose it because it was closer to my home. The best thing is the placement is good. I can improve more about the teaching style. Fests time is good.

Good memories with top placements and decent infrastructure.
Placements: Last year approximately 95% of students were placed in the mechanical branch. The highest package is 22 LPA, and the lowest salary is 7 LPA. The average package offered by this college is 10.4 LPA. In a batch of 106 students, 25 students got internships. Top roles include product manager, etc.
Infrastructure: My college was established in 1960. Our campus has about 300 acres of land. Infrastructure is good. Hostel and college lecture halls are well-equipped and maintained. In hostels, we face Wi-Fi issues frequently but after many complaints, it has improved. Now, food quality in the mess is pretty decent.
Faculty: Teachers are really well qualified, educated, and helpful as well. Their quality of teaching is excellent. Besides course curriculum, we have to study for ourselves to get industry-ready. Semester exams are not that difficult. Me as well as my friends study a week before the exams.
Other: Honestly, I chose this college and course because of my rank, and it was the only college with a good and decent placement ratio.

A place of knowledge - NIT Jamshedpur.
Placements: Placement scenario in our college is really good. Overall 90% of students got placed in every branch. The median package of all the branches is over 8 LPA. The highest package is 1.23 crore. The recruiting companies coming to our college are also really good like Tata Group, Atlassian, Adobe, etc.
Infrastructure: The lecture hall complex of our college is very good. It is new and filled with many new electrical equipment with a smartboard in every class. All classes are centrally air-conditioned. Classes are very big and there are 3 floors in the lecture hall. Hostel facility in our college is not that great but very good. There are 7 boys hostel and 3 girls hostel. Since our college was established in 1960s, the old hostel is not that great but it is maintained well. We have good water facilities, and mess facility is okay.
Faculty: Teachers at our college are highly qualified. They are Ph.D. scholars and most of them are graduated from IITs. They have a very rich research background and help us a lot in making us grasp the concept. The curriculum is relevant. The exam culture in college is very serious with most of the students getting passed. If someone doesn't perform well they will get a backlog.
Other: I got into this college after passing the joint entrance examination main and after filling this college in my counseling process, I was able to get admission to this college in mechanical engineering courses. Fests in our college are really fun with 3 being major fests namely URJA (sports fest), Culfest (cultural fest), and OJASS (the techno-management fest). There are also the branch fests of all branches like Cognito of mechanical engineering, Pravadhan of ECE branch, and many more. As per the government rules, our college provides many scholarships to students. The clubs and society are also great and technical club is the best.

my college is not good but not bad
Placements: Around 85 - 90% of students from the CSE department are typically placed. The highest package offered in recent years has been approximately 86 LPA (varies yearly). Lowest package is usually around 6-7 LPA. The average package for CSE students tends to be in the range of 12-15 LPA. Major recruiters include companies like Amazon, Tata Consultancy Services, Adobe, Atlassian. Around 60-70% of students secure internships during their course.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of my course and hostel is average. In my college comparison to boys hostel girls hostel is not good and there are 3 floors only and worst situation is that one room shared with 2 more girls. There is a three sitter room so this thing is not good.
Faculty: Faculty of NIT Jamshedpur is not good. The professor do not have any teaching skill and do not understand the student's situation. Exam course is so so but faculty always want i think they always search a path on how can back the student in the examination but not all.
Other: Event are good. In my college held many events are held and we all enjoy this events. They held many type of event like culfest ,ojjas, urja ,adveya, invikta and many others. All fest area are celebrated like sports, cultural, technical.
