SAT is accepted by BITS pilani and may be in future few more private universities will start with it. If you are keen to join USA for further studies, you may take SAT in grade 11 beginning as it will be the best time to start process of applying abroad.

I don't know about the private colleges. But I think you have a chance of getting a NIT. Just wait for the AIR to get declared.

If you belong to SC-ST, then you'll surely get a NIT. If you belong to OBC, then also you have a good chance of getting into a NIT. But if you're a General, you wont get. And no one gets into IIT just by giving JEE Mains. To get into a IIT, you have to score well in JEE Advance.
