yes many colleges take admissions on the basis of your jee mains marks or ranks.
But there are many good colleges which yave there own entrance exams like
1. VITEEE,MU-OET,SRMJEE,BITSAT etc

Hello !most of the institutions allot the seats on the basis on JEE ranks but if you havent done well in JEE ,dont worry there are colleges who conducts their own entrance examination to provide high scholarship.here are some of the colleges where you can get admission by cracking their entrance test:
