If you consider studying in Canada you don't need this score. Moreover aeronautical is a popular choice in Canada. I could have suggested usa however if you wish to consider this year admission, you are already late

Before 2013 it was AIEEE. Now its JEE Mains. But advantage of JEE Mains is It covers almost all BTech And BArch Courses all over the country.

If he thinks that he has x-factor to crack it,and he is ready for super hard work.than it will be the best decision.
But in my opinion if he is getting the nit, which is a among top 4 than he should take admission this year.
