English plays an vital role in our day-to-day life. There is great utility of English in modern world. So, the use of English should be continued along with Hindi and other regional languages.
In this land of innumerable regional languages in different States, English serves as a link-language in the country. English language is widely used in official communications also. The importance of English language in education and in students' life cannot be denied. The communication of India with other countries takes place in English language only. You can go for "Wren and Martin". That's one of the most auxiliary book to prepare for your management entrances. Here, you also can go with "Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis", this will help you to improve your vocabulary. To improve your verbal ability, you must read books from different genres and you can go with some glorious novels as well. Meanwhile, have these Newspaper Editorials: "The Hindu and The Economic Times"
Magazines like "Business World and Frontline".

Yes, you can go for English honors. The detailed eligibility criteria is given below:
1. Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university.
2. The age must be between 21 to 30 years at the time of examination.
The age relaxation and the reservation in the seat is applicable to the reserved category candidates as per government rule.
So, don't worry if you completed graduation in the English honors then you are eligible to apply for the IAS examination.
