In CLAT exam, English portion covers 40 marks and 30 is a pretty much good score. All you can do is go through past year CLAT question paper that will give you a better idea how to strategies your planning.

NLUD conducts AILET, jindal provides admission through LSAT, Maharahtra CET is also there. BHU, AMU, JMI, etc. have their separate exams. Moreover, symbiosis, alliance, Christ, IPU, etc. also conduct separate entrance exams.

Anything above 130 would definitely help and if the paper is really easy, try scoring around 150 and most importantly, avoid negatives.

Yes, you can go for other law colleges, and the NLUs would call you for admission, according to the various phases of counselling.

To get admission in 2018, your 2017 score wont be considered, so you need to take the test again.

Please do not drop, that's a suggestion. Join any educational programme and prepare simultaneously. If you are really patient, then wait for the vacancies as offered by NLUs, you might easily get through one of the bottom NLUs.

IPR is an emerging branch, so go for that.
if you're in with the conventional fields of law, then you always have civil and criminal law at your disposal.
other branches of law like corporate law, constitutional law, jurisprudence also offer good scopes.
