For improving Critical Reasoning for CLAT, learn active reading, wherein you break the passage into premises, assumptions, and conclusions. Regularly doing exercises of varied kinds, such as weakening, strengthening, and drawing inferences, along with intensive analysis of previous years' question papers, will surely increase your speed and accuracy.

The optimal period for preparation for Critical Reasoning for CLAT would be 6 to 10 months prior to the exam date, roughly at the beginning or midway through Class 12. During this period, one can develop active reading skills and comprehend logical arguments in addition to practising the inferential type of questions from passages.

No, CLAT can never be cracked without CR study. CR is the complete backbone of CLAT UG's modern passage-based form. Not even attempting it is equivalent to throwing away nearly 20 percent of the entire paper, besides affecting other important segments of CLAT as well.
