For getting admission to M.Tech courses in India, almost all of the top colleges ask you to give relevant entrance tests and get excellent marks in the same as the cutoffs are quite high for an M Tech degree. The GATE exam is the most prominent exam that takes place every year for admission to M.Tech courses. You need to meet the minimum eligibility requirements of getting at least 55% marks in graduation in any relevant engineering specialization.
Talking about the IITs in India, they do offer an exception to IIT graduates who can apply for direct MTech admission if they have secured 8 CGPA or 75% marks in their BTech degree.

NIPER (SAS Nagar) Mohali is one of the 7 NIPERs in India. The eligibility criteria for all 7 NIPERs are the same. The NIPER Mohali M.Tech programme is offered in three specialisations. CMR Engineering College M.Tech eligibility requires students to pass graduation in the relevant field from a recognised university. Additionally, candidates must have secured a valid score in either GATE or TS PGECET exam for final selection. The college may admit students through management quota if deemed necessary. GHRCEM Nagpur selects candidates for M.Tech programme based on GATE scores. Besides, candidates must also complete BTech with at least 50% aggregate for M.Tech admission. Aspirants selected based on GATE rank are offered seat in the college via CAP. Once selected, candidates need to pay a course fee to confirm their seat in the college.

Those looking to get into M.Tech at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University must ensure that they fulfil the preset admission criteria of the course. Utkal University M.Tech admission takes place through the OJEE entrance exam. The selection criteria for admission into the university is a valid OJEE score and a valid graduation from a recognised university. Although, candidates with valid graduation degree can apply for admission into the programme, aspirants with a graduation in BE/ BTech programmes will find it easier to secure admission in the programme.
