The difficulty level of the M.Tech entrance tests usually depends on various parameters like the previous year's student response, the number of exam applicants, the estimated number of seats available, and of course, your own preparation. The M Tech exam-conducting body looks at various factors and sets the exam paper accordingly.

For getting admission to M.Tech courses in India, almost all of the top colleges ask you to give relevant entrance tests and get excellent marks in the same as the cutoffs are quite high for an M Tech degree. The GATE exam is the most prominent exam that takes place every year for admission to M.Tech courses. You need to meet the minimum eligibility requirements of getting at least 55% marks in graduation in any relevant engineering specialization.
Talking about the IITs in India, they do offer an exception to IIT graduates who can apply for direct MTech admission if they have secured 8 CGPA or 75% marks in their BTech degree.
