A journalist who joins as a fresher can hope to earn up to Rs. 15,000 to begin with. Promotions and increase in salaries can be swift, depending on the performance.
A career in animation can be well paying, with experienced animators earning upward of Rs. 50,000. With a Masters or a specialisation, you can hope to take more rupees home, with a B.Sc in viscom, you could hope to earn upward of Rs. 20,000. However, it would be more for a graphic artist and different for a photographer. The salaries vary depending on what area you choose to work in.

This college offers premier training programmes in visual arts. It offers BFA (Bachelor in Fine Arts 4 year) and MFA (Masters in Fine Arts 2 year) regular courses. A candidate requires at least 50% marks in Senior School Certificate (SSC) for fulfilling eligibility criteria.
2) Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication (SACAC), New Delhi.
SACAC offers a course in creative photography and students can apply online through website. The course is of 1 year duration and a graduate from any discipline can apply for the admission.
3) Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad
One of the most popular photography colleges. The university conducts an entrance exam every year and classes of BFA course commences in the month of August. MFA course facility is also available for students.
4) Sir JJ School of Applied Art, Mumbai.
Sir JJ institute offers a course in BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) from Mumbai University. The students can apply for admissions after 10+2. The course duration is 4 years with specialisation in photography. It is one of the oldest and best photography schools in India.
5) A.J. Kidwai Mass Communication Research Center, New Delhi. The admissions are made on the score of an entrance exam conducted every year to fill 20 seats. The course duration is 1 year and half duration of course will contain only practicals. Minimum requirement is a graduate candidate with at least 50% marks.
6) Asian Academy of Film and Television (AAFT), Noida. This institute shortlists candidates for a 3 month programme in still photography and journalism on the basis of 10+2 marks. AAFT is located in Noida film city at NCR region of Delhi.
7) Osmania University, Hyderabad
This university offers admission to students in fine arts right after school. Photography course is of 3 years of duration and every year an entrance test is conducted for admissions in BFA (photography) course. Entrance exam is in the first/second week of June every year.

University offers a Certificate course in still photography and visual communication under self-finance scheme. The duration of course is 1 year.
