Admission to MCA courses is done through the merit-based as well as entrance examination based. Various entrance exams are conducted at the national level (NIMCET) or state level (MAH CET, UPSEE, etc.) and University level (BHU PET, VITEEE, etc) to shortlist eligible candidates for the course.
MCA or Master of Computer Application admission is mostly done through entrance exams conducted at various levels. However, there are very few private colleges/universities that offer admission to the course through direct admission which is based on merit. Different colleges/universities follow different admission procedures to offer admission to the MCA course. MCA Admission for the academic year 2022 is currently open in several colleges such as the NMIMS University, Mumbai, ICFAI University, and more.
Candidates willing to get admission to MCA courses must fulfill the eligibility requirements for the course. To be eligible, aspirants should have completed their 10+2 with at least 50% marks from a recognized Board having Mathematics as the compulsory subject, also one should complete their graduation in Computer Science or other relevant fields. The eligibility criteria may vary from college to college.

Eligibility for BCA Course
The eligibility criteria for the BCA course is that the applicant must have completed 10+2 preferably in Commerce and some universities might also have their own specific entrance tests for this course. Major BCA entrance exams include IPU CET BCA KIITEE BCA LUCSAT BCA etc. If you are planning to study BCA abroad, then you might be asked to provide SAT and ACT scores in countries like the USA. Candidate must have completed BCA or B.Sc. (Information Technology/ Computer Science or equivalent), or a pass in a recognized Bachelors degree of minimum 3 years duration (in disciplines other than the ones mentioned above) with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduation Level and obtained at least 50% marks (45% for Tamilnadu BC, BCM, MBC, SC, SCA, ST category). The qualifying degree examination can be 10+2+3/4/5 years pattern or 10+3 years Diploma +3 years pattern or 10+2+AMIE or 10+3 years diploma + AMIE. AMIE candidate must have 2 years regular full time experience in the relevant field. Candidates with B.E./B.Tech. degrees obtained through Distance/Weekend mode are not eligible. Candidates with degree obtained without studying 10th/12th Std. or 3 years degree programme are not eligible. Candidates appearing for the final semester/year are also eligible.
