First of all thank you for asking such a nice question. Now to answer you the scope and future in Mechanical engineering is quite great as there are immense opportunities in this field. Let me tell you that mechanical engineers are needed everywhere as everywhere manufacturing is required and even in now a days of hightech robots even they need mechanical systems to build their infrastructure. Also other sectors where mechanical engineer are there can be listed as railway, aerospace, petroleum, automotive, ceramic, fertilizer,and the list goes on. Also when you become a mechanical engineer you can have very diversified field to go like defense sector, private or government sector.

It's possible for you to get seat in mechanical but only through management but it depends on your caste(Typical caste system). So if you are OC you don't have any chance of getting it through counseling but if you are any other caste you have a damn good chance. So if you are OC you have to fill the form and then they will call you for an aptitude test followed by an interview. if you clear all that you will get mechanical. Fees structure (if you will get through management) is a little high. Every year you will have to pay around Rs.1.3-1.4 lacs. They take tuition fees plus special fees plus transport charges.
If you get it though counseling well and good. The fees will come around Rs.1.1 lacs-Rs.1.2 lacs and also if you are first graduate in your family it will come around Rs.90k-Rs.1 lac.
