Boys Hostel in the college is decent. The girl's hostel is newly built which is amazing. Placements for mechanical NIE is one among the best in Karnataka. I'd personally guarantee that this year NIE had a record. 3 branches ie. EC, CS and ISC had 100% placements and mechanical had 85%.

Starting salaries are similar in all your choices of engineering branches in campus placement.

Aeronautical Engineering overlaps 80% with Mechanical engineering. Mechanical Engineering graduates can easily get jobs in Aeronautical companies. Why do not you try joining Indian Air Force in Aeronautical Engineering ( Mechanical) technical branch as a Commissioned officer.

You can get a job after Diploma in mechanical engineering at supervisor level in both government and private sector because Diploma is job and practical oriented course.
