Your prospects for getting an MBBS seat in government colleges in West Bengal under the state quota would not be very bright with a score of 505 in the general (unreserved) category for NEET 2024. The cutoff scores for most of the government medical colleges in West Bengal were more than 505 in previous years. For instance:

Government Colleges: Medical College Kolkata, Nilratan Sircar Medical College,  RG Kar Medical College generally had their cut-offs around 590-600 for state quota general category seats.

Semi-Government/Private Colleges: Semi-government or private colleges like KPC Medical College or ICARE Institute of Medical Sciences could be having their cut-offs more around your score,  though it may still demand a few points more than 505 for the general category students.

Scoring 292 in NEET 2024, securing a government or semi-government MBBS seat will be challenging, as the cutoff marks for top colleges are usually high. Some semi-government colleges might have low cutoff marks, which can get moderate scorers in. For instance, colleges like *Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education, Chennai, * and *PSG Institute of Medical Science, Coimbatore, * admit students with scores ranging from 250–500. This is purely at the discretion of the college based on the category and availability of particular seats.

You can also look at private medical colleges, where the cutoff might be softer compared to government colleges. Government colleges may have a higher cutoff, while semi-government and private colleges would more likely provide options with your score. Another thing is that you need to research cutoff trends as well as seat availability specific to counseling.

Where and how to start – NEET 2024 Syllabus, Exam pattern: NEET exam or the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is conducted for the students of standards 11 and 12 to get the following subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Deliberate on a study schedule: 6-8 hours a day, 12-18 months. Make every effort to finish the syllabus by December 2023 and then spend some extra time to revise it and practice. Try to attempt 50- 100 questions every day and attempt two to three full-length mocks per week. Assess the results of your work: reveal the most effective and least effective schemes for yourself and improve the plan. Get over the 600 marks of 720 so as to improve on your chances of being admitted in respected medical college.
