Varies from programme to programme and university to university, and also on the course level. Normally, for UG courses you will require 6 with no section less than 5.5. For PG, you will normally require 6.5 with no section less than 6.

You want to go for your undergraduate studies in civil engineering abroad. Right? Both the countries that you have chosen are English speaking countries and the colleges in those countries have English as the medium of instruction. This becomes very helpful for students from India to seek admission in these countries. When one is thinking for placements after studies, Canada being bigger country than New Zealand, correspondingly offers much more jobs than New Zealand. In view of this I would definitely advise you to aim for going to Canada for doing your undergraduate studies in civil engineering.
