No need to confuse. You should keep in mind-NIT has a tag. Even, both institutes are renowned one, but still if you have any doubt, then you can go for placement records, because academics are best.

NIT Kurukshetra is better than PEC Chandigarh. They will provide you the best placements records and course curriculum.

ECE has better placement than Mechanical. But Mechanical has more future opportunities than ECE. But again that all depends on the interest of student. Sometimes Mechanical students are placed better than ECE students.
