I will advice you to sort out your intrest field first. If you are getting a chance to get admission in IIT go for it.

Hello Rajesh,
Admissions in NIT's are based on rank of JEE Mains. If you score well in JEE Mains then you have a chance of getting admission in your desired college and branch. Else you can think of getting admission via lateral mode in college within your state.

1 We don't have computer Science as a course in DA. The actual course is ICT- information and communication technology and I assume you are thinking the minor in CS to be computer Science. A minor is an addition to the main branch you are studying and you will have to take a couple of courses extra than general ICT students and in DA CS is Computational Science, not computer Science. Given the choices I would prefer DA because of the extended exposure it gives in various fields.

Both are similar in comparison. Both these colleges fall under top NIT category. So we can't say like which one is better. Yeah from campus life and location point of view, NITK is better than any top NITs.

I would suggest you take CSE in SVNIT. In terms of placements also, CSE is better than mechanical in any college.

NIT-K (Surathkal) is better in terms of placements than IIT Bhubaneswar. Recently IIT Bhubaneswar might get some good placements but NIT-K is much older and have more connections.
