Yes IITs are better in terms of placement except new IITs.Top NITs are somehow better than the new IITs in placement records.I have seen students rejecting a seat in new IIT for Top NIT.

dear namya. nit jalandhar is better then thapar.
because nit jalandhar is government college. u can afford it esaly. and nit jalandhar has good ranking. so my advice is nit jalandhar.

its depend on Your category. if u have sc or st category then u can get college.
if u have obc or general category then u can't get nit. or IIT needs 75% minimum. so u can't eligible for IIT.
