An orthopedic nurse is a specialised nurse who focuses on providing care to patients with musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. These nurses work closely with orthopedic doctors and surgeons to assist in the treatment and management of various orthopedic issues, such as fractures, joint replacements, spinal injuries, arthritis, and other musculoskeletal disorders.

In an orthopedic ward, nurses are the linchpin of patient care, serving as vital advocates and caregivers for individuals navigating musculoskeletal conditions, fractures, and post-operative recovery. Their multifaceted role encompasses meticulous assessment of patients' conditions, diligently monitoring vital signs, pain levels, and wound healing progress. 

Beyond administering medications and dressing wounds, they play a pivotal role in facilitating mobility, assisting patients with exercises, and ensuring proper positioning to prevent complications. 

The official notification for the PGIMER BSc nursing exam will be released by the exam conducting body in May 2026. 

PGIMER BSc Nursing exam will be held in July 2026. Last year, the exam was conducted on July 27 in online mode. The state-level exam will be held to facilitate admissions to BSc (Hons.) Nursing and BSc (Post-Basic) Nursing programmes.    

Community Health Nurses' primary duty is to promote health and prevent disease within a community by offering them direct medical care, education, and advocacy, sometimes working directly with people and families in their homes to assess their requirements, deliver preventive services, and minimize chronic conditions, all while considering the social and environmental aspects impacting their wellness. 

They offer home visits to people in need, provide mental health support, and take follow-ups of patients they treat.
