See it is upto time to time and depends on the condition of the industry. so if you want me to be honest, it is good. say 5-7 Lakh per annum that is only working in Chandigarh which is a very good amount if you are a local person.

See what you have to understand is that GD/PI play a very small but crucial role in your merit. yes you have to prepare for your GD and PI.
For GD
1. try to know about the current topics like budget , international news etc.
2 get knowledge about management issue that are prevailing in the industry.
Eg. of GD questions asked: Is smartphone making us smarter or dumb
is corruption important to climb career ladder.

Only M.A. (Eco) is not good enough to get a attractive placement you should add professional degree to get good package although based on your MA (Eco.) you can get a job in teaching field as an Assistant Professor after passing the qualifying exam like NET.

Teaching in college requires you to clear NET ( National eligibility test) to be placed as professor. The current CTC for an assistant professor is around Rs 40000 pm. Rest depends on your experience and status of college/ university.
