Yes, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) and Babu Banarasi Das University (BBDU), Lucknow also have entrance examination in PhD following the month of May-June. BBAU is also in the continuous admission cycle to its May 2025 PhD session and an entrance test will probably be administered. Also, we have a chance that there will be a national-level NTA-PhD Entrance Exam in October 2025. BBDU has a written examination in August 14, 2025, and interviews on August 20, 2025 that will take place within the current PhD admission cycle.

If you hold NET / JRF / GATE / SET qualification
Most of the UGC-recognized universities (such as DU, JNU, BHU) exempt entrance tests if you've cleared:

UGC NET-JRF

CSIR-NET, GATE (for technical streams)

SLET/SET (state eligibility tests)

Direct Admission at Private or Deemed Universities
Few private or deemed universities provide direct admission (usually after an interview) if you:

Have a good academic record

Provide a good research proposal

Agree to join under self-financed or part-time mode
Example: Amity, VIT, Chandigarh Univ., Shob
