Indian pharmacy education took a big leap in the year 2008 with The Pharmacy Council of India recognizing the Pharm.D program. This was a move to standardize pharmacy education in India and make it at par with international standards. Numerous universities and colleges in India have launched the Pharm.D program; however the road to success is a steep one with this higher degree program.
Job Opportunities After Pharm.D
On the other hand, the pharmacovigilance industry always struggles for qualified medical talent which suits to the needs of the drug safety enterprise. Jobs after Pharm.D could be many however the pharmacovigilance positions have the potential to take you to greater heights of the management enterprise. Albeit a lucrative career few mainstream physicians opt for a career in pharmacovigilance making ample room for the doctorate level educated Pharm.D candidates.
These JLI programs are sure to sharpen the skills of a Pharm.D student to make a mark in the Pharmacovigilance industry.
You can work as CRA,CRC ( these jobs differ from PV,CDC) here you will work in the clinical trial site rather than a CRO. CTC is highly variable. May range between 1.8-3 lakhs/pa
Academics is another option . CTC will be 2- 3 lakhs/pa

Coming to second part of your question
Way back in 2010 when I met PCI president Mr. Suresh, he said they will be introducing Residency and Fellowship programs for Pharm D ( in which you can also choose to specialize eg: ambulatory care, cardiology, neurology etc etc on the lines of residency programs in US ) Don't think they will be out any soon.
You can always do MBA, which is the best option IMO ( terms and conditions apply )
You can go abroad to study or to work. To work abroad as a Pharmacist you have to give exams. Below I'll list few
USA- FPGEE, Internship, NAPLEX, MPJE
CANADA- PEBC ( 3 stages )
AUSTRALIA- APC
UK- just forget it
UAE & other middle eastern contries - Exam conducted by Health ministry, knowledge of Arabic. (spoken and written as well.)

You can go to US,Canada,Australia,UK,New Zealand and do MS in many streams. I'm more inclined towards Canada as the prospects of getting a PR are higher.
