Indian pharmacy education took a big leap in the year 2008 with The Pharmacy Council of India recognizing the Pharm.D program. This was a move to standardize pharmacy education in India and make it at par with international standards. Numerous universities and colleges in India have launched the Pharm.D program; however the road to success is a steep one with this higher degree program.

Diploma in Pharmacy certificate holders may start practicing as pharmacists in India. They may work at drug stores in Government hospitals, private hospitals, clinics, community health centres or private drug stores.
Pharmaceutical companies are also known to hire D Pharm folks. In this sector, they may work at divisions/sections like- manufacturing, process control, quality control and marketing.

Yes you can pursue MD after Pharma D.There are many reasons why the pharmacists want to do MD. Most important is the pharmacists cannot prescribe the medicine as they will just have to wait for the doctor to approve their suggestion in order to administer medicine to the patient. Pharmacists are not very specialized at diagnosis. They can improve if they do MD. Pharmacists are not allowed to do even minor surgeries so after MD, They will be allowed to do that.

Yes, its necessary to give an entrance exam to get into B.Pharma college.
Most colleges that offer B.Pharma programs conduct their own entrance exams to select eligible candidate.Medical colleges in India offer admission to prospective candidates only on the basis of the ranks that they attain in the entrance exam.
