M.Sc. In Astrophysics is a full-time postgraduate course which covers both theoretical and observational aspects of astrophysics, with the course modules consisting of one compulsory module focused on building research skills in Astrophysics, and a variety of different optional modules that focus on topics such as Stars and Nebula, Gravitational Dynamics, and Accretion Physics. Enrolled students are trained in not only the fundamental aspects of Astrophysics, but also transferable skills such as programming, data analysis, problem solving, scientific writing, presentation and Science outreach, enhancing employability in and out of academia. This is a 2- year long course divided into two semesters, and the starting salary offered in India for successful postgraduates of the course lies between INR 5,000 and 60,000 monthly. The minimum eligibility required to be MET for admission to the course is graduation completed with Science from a recognised university with a minimum aggregate score of 50%. A few universities and colleges in India conduct entrance examinations for admission to the course. M.Sc. In Astrophysics: Admission Process
Admission to the course is conducted in 2 stages:
Institutional Test. Personal Interview- involving assessment of fitness, work experience, publications and statement of purpose. Most colleges admit students to the course on the basis of their performance in the relevant entrance test. Some institutions/ universities conduct their own entrance tests for offering admission. After completing M.Sc. In physics you could apply for the job in ISRO. You can work as research associate in various projects in ISRO. They publish vacancies time to time. You can apply for it. Also M.Sc. Physics graduates can apply for technical posts in ISRO. Generally you will be considered for Research /Scientists/ Senior Physicist positions in ISRO. At least 60% mark is needed so as to apply for the same. Written examination is conducted and selection is made on behalf of the performance of candidates in this exam. The subject concepts studied in M.Sc. The level will be analyzed in the written exam. P. I (personal interview)is the final process for those who clear the written exam.
